At our Schools…
Many of our schools in Alachua County have on site teaching gardens that provide students a fun and hands-on way to learn about growing food and eating healthy. Gardens also provide many lessons in science, language, math, social studies, history and more! As school gardens become more popular, an increasing number of resources are available. Here a few to get you started.

Florida DOE Office of Healthy Schools provides a comprehensive listing for many school garden related things including curriculum and grant opportunities.

Florida Agriculture in the Classroom is a fantastic local resource (they are housed at UF) for FREE or nearly free curricula that meets Sunshine State Standards. Obtain programs/curricula that help boost FCAT scores through gardening lessons! They also offer workshops for teachers.

Nutrition to Grow On
